Daily painting #144

Braeburn Apple
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
Just an Apple for today, I am quite enjoying painting single fruits at the moment, partly due to not having a fantastic choice to buy nice fruit at this time of year in the small town where I live.
I have a larger painting of marbles on the go as well so that has been taking up a lot of my painting time, I am hoping to finish it tomorrow, so pics will be up soon.

Daily painting #143

Clementine on cloth
7 x 5 inch oil
SOLD
Clementines seem to be quite popular at the moment, so here is another one.
I have spent the rest of today priming more canvas boards, I have some tiny new ones, they are just 5cm square, so they should be fun to paint.

Daily painting #142

Conference Pear
7 x 5 inch oil

I thought I would just paint this pear on its own today, I sometimes like to just keep it simple, this pear was so much taller than the others it stood out on its own.

Daily painting #140

Blush Pear
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
I lowered my still life stack down for this one, I usually have it quite high up so the fruit is almost at eye level to me, but I liked the shape of the shadow that the pear made so to see more of it, it came down a box or two.
I missed posting last night as my Internet connection was down, I have another two small buy it now paintings available on ebay, one is a Pear and one a Clementine both are with a free display easel, but they are also suitable for framing, I always make sure to leave enough space around the edges.

Daily painting #139

Clementine with Cherry
5 x 7 inch oil

I had to paint a clementine again today, I love the colour of them. The leaves have started to shrivel up a bit now, but they have curled into nice shapes. I will have some small 10cm sq. Clementine paintings available in the next few days.

Daily painting #138

Strawberry with Blueberries
7 x 5 inch Oil
SOLD
A strawberry with a few blueberries for today, I don't do that many daily paintings in portrait so this was a nice change.
I spent the rest of the day priming and sanding canvas boards as I was getting a bit low on them, I have also been playing around with the pool balls and my new box of marbles!

Daily painting #137

Pair of Pears
5 x 7 inch Oil

A pair of pears for today, I have so much fruit at the moment it was a job to decide what to paint today. My stack of boxes and books with a board on top was stacked high for this one as I liked the stalk hanging over the edge.

8 Ball

8 Ball
15 x 15 cm Oil on canvas board
This painting is available via Dailypaintworks.com,  Click here to bid

Here is the second of my pool ball paintings, as this one is a bit larger than the first one, I took quite a while longer to paint it in more detail, and getting the tone of the white spot took a lot of squinting! the main lighting was from the window, it was quite a bright day for a change, but the white also picked up the green of the cloth and a yellow tinge from the ceiling light. I used burnt sienna and ultramarine for the grey tones with a touch of the green mix from the cloth and yellow ochre. I am very happy with how it has turned out and am looking forward to the next ball!

Daily painting #136

Clementine
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD

I had this great Clementine for today's painting. I bought five of them as they had the leaves on them, but I thought this one looked great on its own.
I am quite glad I had to go to the dentist yesterday, its in a different town to where I live and the supermarket is bigger and has more variety of fruit and veg, so I was very happy to find these Clementines.

Daily painting #135

Strawberry with Silver cup
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
This is my first daily painting of 2012! I bought the little silver cup off ebay last year, but this is the first time I have painted it I think.
I have found it very hard to get back into a routine of painting after Christmas, hopefully I shall be back on form from now on. I got some lovely looking fruit today, but I am also enjoying painting my new shiny pool balls and a few other things will be coming up this year.

Back to work!

I know it's a bit late, but Happy New Year! I had not intended to take such a long break from the daily paintings, things just kept cropping up and I have been working on some new and quite different works for me. Here is one I have just finished.

Daily paintings update

I am sorry I have missed the last week of daily paintings, I spent most of the week in bed feeling rotten! coughing and shivering and aching all over.
Felling a bit better now. I am taking the next week, and over Christmas to catch up on some other works, and I will get back to the daily's after Christmas.
My small 10cm square paintings with Free easels are still available on ebay.

Daily painting #133

Pomegranate & Clementine
5 x 7 inch oil

I thought this Pomegranate and Clementine would look good together, the colours worked well and the clementine skin picked up a bit of red reflection from the Pom.
I usually google  my fruit combinations to see what comes up, so following on from my last posts Christmas theme  I found a Christmas party drink called Pomegranate crush. you can see the recipe here.

Dailt painting #131

Pewter Tankard with Clementine & Cranberry
5 x 7 inch oil

A bit of a Christmas theme to today's painting, as kids my sister and I would always get a Clementine or tangerine in our stocking from Santa, and the cranberries are just a classic christmas fruit.

Pomegranate on cloth
7 x 5 inch oil

A Pomegranate for today's painting. I haven't painted a Pom for a while as I haven't been able to get a nice one, and as I paint all the dailys from life rather than using photos I have to use whatever I can get. This one has a lovely rich red colour to it with hints of yellow and pink in places.
