Daily painting #61

Lime with Cherries
5 x 7 in oil on canvas board
SOLD
I missed my first weekday daily painting yesterday as I went to my nephew's 7th birthday party for some cake! back to painting today and some more cherries, this is the first time I have put them with a lime, They look good together but I did google if they go together taste wise, there are quite a few recipes for lime with cherry and a few cocktails.
I think I will do lemon with cherries for tomorrow.

Daily painting #60

Granny Smith with Cherry
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
It has been one of those days! I got this painting done earlier today but almost forgot about this blog, so I've taken a break from gessoing canvas boards to post this.  A Granny Smith apple and a cherry for today. I can hardly believe i have got to No. 60 already, and almost all with fruit,  I have never before eaten so much of the stuff, healthy though I suppose, There are still a few fruit I haven't painted yet, mostly the ones I don't like to eat.
I think I may paint my new silver cup for tomorrow with some cherries.

Daily painting #59

Cherries in Silver
5 x 7 inch Oil

Here is another painting of one of my favourite fruits to paint, Cherries. I have a pair of these great little hammered silver bon-bon dishes, I got them off ebay last week, I also got a small silver 1/4 pint cup that I will paint soon. I have done very few painting of shiny objects, so I am enjoying the new challenges they bring.

Daily painting #58

Pear on Cloth
7 x 5 inch Oil

I thought this Pear needed a fancier cloth, it was a bit of a fiddle to paint but I think it looks great.

Daily painting #57

Pear with blackcurrants
5 x 7 inch Oil
SOLD
Another Forelle Pear for today's painting, with Blackcurrants this time, the Blackcurrants are from our garden, we only have three blackcurrant bushes but they have produced a mass of fruit this year, I hope to get a least one more painting of them done before they finish.

Tuesday 19 July 2011

Daily painting #56

Lean on Me
5 x 7 inch Oil
SOLD
I really enjoy painting these Forelle Pears, I did the background this blue grey for a change, I think it works well. I will also be entering this one to this weeks daily painting challenge, on Dailypaintworks .com this weeks challenge is the colour of music, and you have to name the song, so this is for Lean on Me by Bill Withers.
Tomorrows painting will have another pear I think.

Daily painting #55

Strawberry Trio
5 x 7 inch oil

As I had a whole punnet of Strawberries I thought I had better paint them again today, I think we have a second crop growing in the garden but they are not ready yet, so these are from the shops. I also got some more Forelle pears today, so they will feature again in the next day or so.

I have been wanting do do a Sweet and Sour for a while, so here it is. Lemon and Strawberry, I actually enjoy painting lemons now, when I first started oil painting yellow things were avoided, but how things change with practice. More Strawberries for tomorrow I think, maybe a trio..

Silver with Plums

Silver with Plums
15 x 15 cm Oil on canvas board

Here is my painting for the weekly challenge on Dailypaintworks.com. the challenge was to paint something with a reflection. The tankard is my Mums christening cup, and its shape makes great reflections. I am now a member of Dailypaintworks.com so I have put this painting on their auction site. Uk bidders can just as easily bid as on ebay, only its listed in Dollars.
I don't usually do a daily painting on a Saturday, instead I gesso a load of boards ready for the next week. I think the next few will have Strawberries in them and another Lemon.

Daily painting #52

Avocado with Red Grapes
5 x 7 inch oil

Some more Grapes for today's painting, this time with half an Avocado, the other half of it is out of view but it was propping this side up. I have to be fairly quick painting Avocados as they discolour so quickly, I smothered this half in lemon juice and it was ok.
Today I have also been working on a painting for this weeks challenge from Dailypaintworks.com, the challenge is to paint something with reflections, I am painting a silver goblet with plums. I will post a pic asap.

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Daily painting #51

Grapes
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD
I said yesterday I may do Grapes today, so here they are, not many of them I know! I ate far too many whilst trying to get them in a good position and the bunch just got smaller and smaller.
I have another Avocado for tomorrows painting, and I may be adding some vegetables into the daily paintings soon, as a lot is almost ready in the garden.

Tuesday 12 July 2011

Daily painting #50

Cantaloupe with Raspberry
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
I can't believe I am up to No. 50 already! Today's painting was another first for me, I have never painted a Cantaloupe, or any other Melon before, but I chose this melon because of its great colour and the pinky red of the Raspberry looked great together. Not sure yet what to paint for 51, it may be grapes.

Monday 11 July 2011

Daily painting #49

Apricots with Raspberries
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD

This is my second go at painting Apricots, they had gone a bit redder today. We are still picking loads of Raspberries daily so I will have to paint them again soon with another combination.

Sunday 10 July 2011

Daily painting #48

Apricot Trio
5 x7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD
This is my first ever go at painting Apricots, I was going to get a punnet of them the other week, but they were so expensive in Tesco I put it off, then my Mum came home with these three from Edwin's butchers, three is just enough for me to paint, so thanks Mum! I might just get one more painting done with them before they get eaten.

Friday 8 July 2011

Daily painting #47

Apple with Plums
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
Another Apple for today, this time with some plums, I was glad the stalks stayed on the plums long enough to paint them, they usually fall of by the time I get them home, This photo is a bit duller than the actual painting, the reds are a lot brighter, but it was chucking it down with rain and very gloomy when I took the photo.

Thursday 7 July 2011

Daily painting #46

Lemon and Lime
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
Lemons seem to be the most popular of my fruity paintings at the moment, so here is another one. I think I will be painting red fruit tomorrow, to add a bit more bright colour into this weeks ebay listings.

Wednesday 6 July 2011

Daily painting #45

Apple and Raspberries
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD
Granny Smith Apple again for today, we are still picking lots of Raspberries every day at the moment, so they had to feature in this one. My ebay listings are looking a bit green for the last four days, so not decided yet what to paint for tomorrow's painting, I have some plums, grapes and a melon from the shops and  raspberries and blackcurrants from the garden, I will google some fruity combinations later to see what will go well together, I have found all sorts of recipes for various fruit combos!

Tuesday 5 July 2011

Daily painting #44

Apple and Blackcurrant
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD
This is my first Apple to feature in a daily painting, and also the first time for Blackcurrants. I don't like using black paint much except for backgrounds, the blackcurrants were painted with a mix of ultramarine blue and burnt sienna with just a touch of red mixed in a few. The Apple is a Granny Smith. My white cloth needs a good wash after this painting as the blackcurrants leaked a bit of juice onto it.

Monday 4 July 2011

Daily painting #43

Packham Pear with Red Grapes
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
I think this will be the last Packham Pear for a while, I have painted them a few times lately. I haven't done many paintings with grapes, so they will be showing up again soon, I think I might do Apple and Blackcurrants tomorrow, as we have a fridge full of them!

Sunday 3 July 2011

Daily painting #42

Pair of Packham Pears
5 x 7 inch oil
SOLD
Another pair of pears for today's painting. I lowered the height of my still life set up for this one, so I could get a better view of both pears, pears are one of my favourite fruits to paint and eat.
The Blackcurrants are now ready in the garden, so they will be making their first appearance in a daily painting very soon.

Friday 1 July 2011

Daily painting #41

Lemon with Raspberries
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
SOLD
Another Lemon for today's painting. I am getting more confident painting lemons, as I have said before, my first few lemon paintings I found quite a challenge, its getting the yellow colour right in the shadows that I had a problem with. This was my first go at Lemon halves, I've done wedges before but they didn't have all the segments. I am very happy with how this one turned out.
Lots more fruit coming up, I bought Grapes, red and green ones, plums and a cantaloupe melon today.

Daily painting #40

Clementine
5 x 7 inch oil

I missed blogging last night, here is yesterdays painting.
