Daily painting #83

Lemon with Blueberries
5 x 7 inch oil on canvas board
Some more Blueberries for today's painting, I thought they would look nice with a lemon, I did the background for this one with paynes grey, rather than black as it is quite a blue grey.

Daily painting #82

Red Pear with Blueberries
5 x 7 inch Oil

For today's painting I just had to use this Pear again, it has to be the nicest looking pear I have had from the shops, it's a shame it will not last forever. This is the first time I have painted Blueberries, they will be in the next painting as well. I also have some great Apples to paint this week, they are a lovely rich red colour.

Daily painting #81

Gala Apple with Damsons
5 x 7 inch Oil
For today's painting I chose a Gala Apple and some Damsons. The Damsons are from a tree in our garden, It hasn't produced much fruit this year, only a punnet! so I had these three, and we stewed the rest and had them for pudding this evening.

Daily painting #80

Pom on a Plinth
7 x 5 inch oil
I am a little late posting  this one on here, it was painted on Tuesday. The plinth in the painting was made for me by my Dad, I made up one from cardboard first to test its size with various fruits and then Dad made the final one from wood, he also turned me a round one.

Lemon Coke

Coca Cola with Lemon
15 x 15 cm Oil on canvas board

I have been working on this painting over the last few days, finally finished it today. The Coke can is only slightly larger than real life, so it was quite a challenge to do the lettering. This was also the first time painting a coke can, I built up the darker red with quite a few layers of paint.

Another first for today's painting, I haven't painted a Blackberry before, and it was a bit tricky, I think its ok though for my first go.

Daily painting #78

Williams Pear on Yew block
7 x 5 inch Oil
For today's painting I had this great Red Williams pear, it looked so nice it had to be on its own, you don't often find fruit with leaves still on them any more, my mum spotted this one in Tescos in Ruthin, it was the only one with a leaf so I had to have it, and thanks to the guy on the tills for being gentle with it!
The block it's on is a wood turned piece of Yew.

Daily painting #76

Smith and Williams
5 x 7 inch oil
Today's painting is called Smith and Williams, as the apple is a Granny Smith and the Pear is a Red Williams. This is the first daily painting of an apple and pear together. Not sure yet what to paint tomorrow, I have some Kiwi and some Oranges, I will see what I can come up with!.
Hello to new followers this week! And a big thank you to everyone who has bid on my paintings, each one has sold so far, and they have been sent all over the world, including USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain and France. Thank you!

Daily painting #75

Red William Pear with Grapes
5 x 7 inch oil
Back to fruit today! This is another new variety of pear that I haven't painted before, its a Red William, very similar to look at to the Forelle variety, but a lot redder, the other one I have is more of a purple red with green, I will paint that one in a day or so. I used Grapes with this one as I thought the rich reds would work well together, I like it anyway.

Glass Marble

Glass Marble
10 x 10 cm Oil on canvas board

I've had another day off yesterday from painting fruit, I will be getting back to that very soon, so instead I painted this Marble, I have painted marbles a couple of times before, but not this small, the marble is only about 5cm across. I have a stack of these small 10cm canvas boards, so there will be some more small paintings of small things to come.

It's about ten days since I painted a Lemon, so here is another one. The red cloth is a nice change and I think it looks great.

Daily painting #72

Granny Smith with Strawberry
5 x 7 inch oil

An Apple for today, I haven't done many daily paintings with Apples, and this is the first one with a Strawberry, I was planning on a few Strawberries with this one, but one on its own looked better in the end.

Daily Painting #71

Strawberries and Grapes in Silver
5 x 7 inch oil
This little Silver dish is one of my ebay bargains, and it was just the right size for today's painting. I haven't painted Grapes many times before, and I really need more practice at them I think.

Daily painting #70

Raspberry and Blackcurrant Cider
5 x 7 inch oil
For today's painting I used the last of the Raspberries and Blackcurrants from the garden, and my little Cider bottle came in handy again for this one. I haven't tryed it yet, but I bought a bottle of raspberry and black cider the other day.
The next painting will have Strawberries and Grapes.

Daily painting #69

Pomegranate with Raspberries
5 x 7 inch oil
I haven't painted a Pomegranate for a while so here is another one, This one was more orange and red, the last one I painted was a more pinky in colour, its all a bit red, but I thought the Raspberries would look good in this one.

Daily painting #68

Pear, Lime and Strawberry
5 x 7 inch oil

I don't usually do a daily painting on a Saturday, but as I missed a couple of days in the week I got this one done today, I know I have done a few Limes recently, but not this combination, and I like painting them. It sounds a bit sad but I was quite chuffed yesterday that I got 8 Limes for 70p in tesco, they are normally 35p each!
I think I shall be painting a Pomegranate again for tomorrows painting, along with the very last few raspberries from the garden.

Daily painting #67

Beef Tomato
5 x 7 inch oil

This is one of the first beef Tomatoes from Dads greenhouse, and it's massive, so I had to paint it.

Daily painting #66

Plums in bowl
5 x 7 inch oil
Todays painting is a bit of a different set up than usual, as I had to paint this one from one of my photo's rather than from life, out of the 66 paintings so far this is only the second reference photo used, all the rest have been from life, set up in front of me as I paint. so not bad going! my only excuse is I was shattered after physio on my hips this afternoon.

Wednesday, 3 August 2011

Daily painting #65

Strawberries with Lime
5 x 7 inch oil
I thought I would use the Lime and Strawberries again today, this is the first painting of just them together, and the strawberries were really nice big ones.
The last of the Raspberries and blackcurrant were picked from the garden today, so they may be in tomorrows painting.

Daily painting #64

Strawberry and Lime Cider
5 x 7 inch oil

I haven't painted this little Cider bottle for a while, but its small size fits great with small fruit. I have noticed a lot of tv adds for fruity ciders lately, and you can get Strawberry and Lime Cider so this still life set up seemed just right. I am not a Cider drinker but I may just have to get a small bottle to try it.

Daily painting #63

Lemon and Lime
5 x 7 inch oil
Another Lemon and Lime painting for today, I like painting Lemons, I used paynes grey, ultramarine and white for the background for a nice change, I am quite liking the lighter backgrounds so there will be some more. The Lime will be featuring in tomorrows painting, not sure what with yet though.
